Hello!  My name is Mellissa Meeks and I live in Huntsville, Alabama.  I am married to a wonderful man Jeff, who is so supportive in everything I do, and I couldn't do it without him!  We have two beautiful daughters, Brittany, 20 years old, and Caitlin, 10 years old.  We have two dogs, a chocolate lab, Tobey, and a Golden Retriever, Buddie, and our wise 12 year old cat, Sadie.  It is hectic, energized and always art-filled fun at our house! 

 

I work full time as a Financial Analyst for a leading corporation, and have my Master's Degree in Business Administration/Contracts Management and Acquisition.  But my passion is for my art!  I have painted and drawn since I was very small.  I loved to draw just about everything when I was young, and spent many, many hours perfecting images off the cereal boxes as well as animals, buildings, and people.  Never realizing one day where my love of art would take me!  I always wondered why I took so many photos!  Will post some of those too!

 

I love to complete photo-realistic graphite and color pencil drawings and painting with acrylic, oil and watercolor...however, I really enjoy acrylic paints!  I have completed several murals for a salon, churches, and children's rooms. I am currently working on several commissions for weddings, babies, school children, pets and ballet students.  I love to work with my pencils! 

 

 I also love to donate my artwork to charity and have participated in several worthy causes (Artwork for Recipe Book, donated to Christmas Charities, artwork for t-shirts for Track and Field athletes and fundraisers, logo's/artwork theme for "Grooving for the Cure" American Cancer Society, mural for children's church day care center, Golf Tournament, and numerous mini-workshops for school children). 

 

I am a member of the Huntsville Art League (HAL) and also I am showcasing my artwork and workshops at Legacy Gallery in Florence, AL.  I am a self-taught artist and feel strongly that this is a gift from God and I have always believed in giving back by using my love of artwork in positive ways for others.

 

I want to share my love of artwork with children and adults and to encourage others to learn, express their creativity and let their inner "artist" come to light!  I want every participant to complete their painting with a sense of accomplishment and pride, then, I know we have had a truly successful workshop!

 

I am looking forward to meeting new people and launching new workshops.  I am currently scheduled in Huntsville, AL, Florence, AL,  Athens, AL, Atlanta, Ga,  and Rosemary Beach, FL.  I also want to take the time to say a big "Thanks" to my many friends and especially my family that have helped to encourage me and say, "Yes you can" when I spoke of launching my new business!  Love all of you!
